Message from the Chief:

Welcome to the Le Mars Police Department's website. The Le Mars Police Department is made up of 15 sworn officers, 2 civilian personnel, and 2 K9 dogs. We are located at 205 5th Ave NW in a newly remodeled police headquarters. Our department has been modernized with new technology with the goal of providing efficient and responsive police services to the community. Our mission emphasizes our commitment to community outreach and public service.

Le Mars is a growing community that has a lot to offer its citizens. It is a great place to visit, raise families, and work. In 2019, Le Mars was ranked the 6th safest city in the State of Iowa. It is with pride that we keep the community safe for its citizens. We recognize that keeping Le Mars safe is a team effort between the police department and the citizens of Le Mars.

Our officers look forward to helping the community and getting to know the concerns of the citizens. If you would like to talk to an officer or have one visit you or a service group, we encourage you to ask. We are dedicated to Le Mars and proud to call it our home.

Kevin Vande Vegte

Chief of Police
